In Celebration of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur

September 15, 2006

In September 1999 Cleveland radio station WCLV broadcast "
In Celebration of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur". The program was created by two Clevelanders: Marilyn Cagin wrote it, Norman Wain produced and narrated it. The one hour broadcast included poems, philosophical commentaries, quotations and the music of the High Holy Days. Highlights include Barbra Streisand singing Avinu Malkeinu, insights by philosopher Moses Maimonides, and the theme music from the film Schindler's List. The Celebration series of radio broadcasts was a project of the Jewish Culture Society.

The program was enthusiastically received. In 2000 WCLV aired it twice during the High Holy Days and made it available world-wide at the same times through their website. They will do that again this year on October 6. Cleveland's public radio station WCPN will also broadcast it that day.

To make it possible for this program to be heard on demand, in October 2000 we contacted Norman Wain and Tom Sudow of the Jewish Culture Society who made the broadcast available to us. We converted it to web format and linked to it from our Home page. Now this program can be heard anywhere, any time.

We are very pleased to once again make it available for listening at your convenience.

While listening we invite you to explore our site and to learn more about Kol HaLev, Cleveland's Reconstructionist community, and about Reconstructionist Judaism.

From all of us, Shana Tova Tikateivu.

The broadcast is 54 minutes long. It will play in a separate window
and can be paused or stopped at any time.
