Kol HaLev's High Holy Days Tikkun Olam Activities

As in past years, Kol HaLev's High Holy Days tikkun olam efforts will focus on three organizations. Two are international agencies with Jewish roots whose work we can support through fundraising. Once is a local agency whose clients we can help by collecting physical goods that will directly improve the quality of their lives.

Monetary Donations for Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger and HIAS

Donation envelopes for contributing to these two organizaitons will be available at the Information Table in the main lobby througout the High Holy Days. Please pick up an envelope from one or both organizations and return them sealed with a check inside by Yom Kippur: Collection baskets will be available through Neilah on the Information Table. No postage necessary . . . Nancy Rubel will collect the sealed envelopes, and they will be sent (unopened to protect members' privacy) in one larger envelope to each organization as a community donation from Kol HaLev.

About Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger (https://mazon.org/)
Inspired by Jewish values and ideals, MAZON is a national advocacy organization working to end hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds in the United States and Israel. For more than 30 years, MAZON has been committed to ensuring that vulnerable people have access to the resources they need to be able to put food on the table. MAZON is a leading voice in Washington D.C. on anti-hunger issues, especially those that involve populations or problems that have been previously overlooked or ignored.

    About HIAS (https://www.hias.org/)
Founded in 1881 as the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, HIAS's original mission was to assist Jews fleeing pogroms in Russia and Eastern Europe. Now HIAS works around the world to protect refugees who have been forced to flee their homelands because they belong to ethnic or religious minorities, helping them reunite with family and rebuild their lives in safety, dignity and freedom.
