High Holy Days 5770
Tikkun Olam Projects
As in past years, we are coordinating two Tikkun Olam activities during the High Holy Days.
MAZON
Envelopes will be available on the table outside of services to donate to Mazon, a Jewish organization that uses the funds to aid in hunger relief (www.mazon.org). Just pick one up any time beginning on Rosh Hashanah, add your check made out to Mazon, seal it, and return it to the basket on the table where the other materials are located...no postage is necessary. We will send all the checks together as a collective donation from Kol HaLev, each in its orignal sealed envelope so that your donation amount will remain confidential.
AIDS TASK FORCE
This year we are again collecting for the Pantry at the AIDS Task Force of Greater Cleveland (www.aidstaskforce.org). Please donate the following items beginning with Kol Nidre and through Yom Kippur morning services so all items will be ready to be picked up by the Pantry during the afternoon of Yom Kippur. The Pantry has been very specific in expressing their needs, so please bring the following items:
Food items: Boxed macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, canned chicken, tuna and other meats are needed most. Boxed milk and canned vegetables are also appreciated. Please check expiration dates. Supplements (like Boost or Ensure) are not needed this year.
Personal Hygiene products: Toilet paper and Kleenex are needed most, along with shave cream, disposable razors, deodorant, toothpaste and brushes, shampoo, soap. Travel sizes are especially appreciated.
Jonathan Wilhelm and Nancy Rubel are the coordinators this year...if you have any questions, contact Nancy at nancedan@sbcglobal.net
Thank you!
Nancy
