    Upcoming Special Events!

September 1-2, 2018: “Arguing for the Sake of Heaven: The Spiritual Path of Constructive Conflict in our Families, Our Community and Our Society”

Flier for Visiting Scholar Rabbi Amy Eilberg, Kol HaLev Sept 1 2018

Join Kol HaLev for a special weekend of learning with visiting scholar Rabbi Amy Eilberg, September 1 and 2.

Rabbi Eilberg's exciting work blends ancient Jewish sacred text on peacebuilding with contemporary conflict theory. Three special learning sessions with Rabbi Eilberg will be open to the community on Saturday, September 1:

    • Torah study Saturday at 9:30 a.m., prior to Shabbat morning services at the Ratner School
    • A lunch-and-learn program after services and Kiddush at 1 p.m
    • A study session at our Selichot observance Saturday night  at 8:00 p.m.

Rabbi Eilberg will provide training for Kol HaLev’s leadership on Sunday September 2.

The first woman ordained as a Conservative rabbi by the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, Rabbi Eilberg travels widely, teaching the art of listening, dialogue and conflict engagement.  She is an instructor for the Pardes Rodef Shalom Communities Program, teaching Jewish civil discourse to rabbis, synagogues and Jewish organizations. Author of “From Enemy to Friend: Jewish Wisdom and the Pursuit of Peace”, Rabbi Eilberg and has been honored by awards from the Rabbinical Assembly, the New Israel Fund and Tru’ah: the Rabbinic Call for Human Rights.

“I encourage Clevelanders to take advantage of Rabbi Eilberg's wisdom and expertise on a topic that touches so many aspects of our lives,” says Rabbi Steve Segar. “Having the opportunity to learn from her is both a wonderful next step for those who have already begun this journey and also a wonderful first step for those who have yet to experience the transformative potential of her approach to addressing constructive conflict on the individual, community and societal levels.”

The program is free and open to the community.

This program is funded in memory of the late Dr. Maureen Hack, a longtime Kol HaLev member, by her family.
